Concert Band- Beginning to intermediate level wind band class that includes all typical band instruments including percussion.
- Performs in the concert setting (on stage). - Meets as a class during the school day. - Performs three concerts per year and attends adjudicated festivals in the spring. - All marching band students must be enrolled in either concert band or symphonic band. - This is a 1 year class. Symphonic Band- Intermediate to advanced level wind band class that includes all typical band instruments including percussion.

String Orchestra- Intermediate to advanced level string class that includes only orchestral string instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and basses.
- All grades 9-12 are present in this class. - Performs in the concert setting (on stage). - Meets as a class during the school day. - Performs three concerts per year and attends adjudicated festivals in the spring. - This is a 1 year class. Symphony Orchestra (New!)- Advanced level full symphony orchestra that includes strings, winds, and percussion.
- Performs in the concert setting (on stage). - Meets after school. - All students in this ensemble must also be concurrently enrolled in either string orchestra, symphonic band or concert band. - By Audition only. Lancer Regiment (Marching Band P.E.)- Competitive marching band that includes all wind instruments, a drumline, a full front ensemble (mallet percussion), and color guard.
- Performs at all home football games & Saturday competitions. - Meets as a 7th period class immediately after school, three times a week. - Includes all students in grades 9-12. - All marching band students must be enrolled in either concert band or symphonic band. - 1st semester class only. - Marching Band students receive 1 semester of P.E. credit, as well as Arts credit. - If students are in marching band for all four years of high school, they will fulfill their P.E. requirement for graduation. Spring Color Guard (P.E. Dance/Color Guard)- Meets as a 7th period class (after school)
- 2nd semester only. - Continuation of the color guard group from the Lancer Regiment. - Open to all students in grades 9-12. - Competes at approximately 5 Saturday competitions throughout February, March and April. - By Audition only. - Awards: 1st place Color Guard at SCSBOA (Marching Band) Championships in 2011 and 2012. 1st place Color Guard at WGASC RAAA Division Championships. Spring Percussion Ensemble (P.E. Marching Percussion)- Meets as a 7th period class (after school)
- 2nd semester only. - Continuation of the percussion group from the Lancer Regiment. Marching Band is a required prerequisite. - Consists of two sections: marching battery (drums) and front ensemble (mallet instruments such as marimbas and vibraphones). - Open to all students in grades 9-12. - Competes at approximately 5 Saturday competitions throughout February, March and April. - By Audition only. Jazz Band- Meets daily as a 7th period class after school during 2nd semester only.
- Consists of a wind section of typically 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, and 5 saxophones. The group also includes a rhythm section that typically includes a drum set, piano, string bass, electric guitar, vibraphone and/or auxiliary percussion. - By Audition only. - Open to all students in grades 9-12. - Performs at adjudicated jazz festivals and the SHHS spring concert in May. - Jazz Band members must be concurrently enrolled in marching band and concert band or symphonic band. |
