Mission Statement
The mission of the Sunny Hills High School instrumental music department is to enrich the lives of young people by fostering positive youth development through a commitment to excellence in the performing arts. Participation in the performing arts during adolescence helps to build character, discipline, leadership, pride, and self-confidence which serve as the starting blocks to greater achievement and success in adulthood.

Ms. Stanton completed her teaching credential and graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Music Education. She also holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Ms. Stanton became the instrumental music director at Sunny Hills High School in June of 2009. Since starting at Sunny Hills, she has expanded the program to include new groups such as a jazz band and color guard. The Lancer Regiment has grown in size from 40 to 112 members in the last 11 years and has become an award-winning competitive unit. The orchestra has also grown in size and stature to claim several superior ratings at SCSBOA adjudicated festivals.
Ms. Stanton served as the front ensemble instructor for the Claremont High School percussion ensemble in Claremont, CA from 2004-2008. From 2009-2011, she also served as a percussion instructor for the Kamehameha High School marching band from Honolulu, HI, during their summer music camp.
Ms. Stanton's drum corps experience includes performing with Yamato Drum & Bugle Corps, the Patriots Drum & Bugle Corps from Rochester, NY, and the Magic Drum & Bugle Corps from Orlando, FL. Ms. Stanton returned to Yamato in 2008 to serve as their front ensemble instructor. She also attended and performed at the Zeltsman Marimba Festival in 2006 and 2007. She currently is an 'Educator' for Innovative Percussion and a member of the SCSBOA.
